Cruel Noise was founded in August 1998 by Frank Acklin (dr) and Dominik Flacher (g) in Wil SG. Former school friends Roberto Sulzer (voc) and Stefan Kleger (b) completed the band. The band played its first gig with this line up in October 1999.
In the beginning cover songs were played in order to tighten up the band and to gain more experience in songwriting and arranging. Soon the repertoire consisted of original compositions in the Punk/Rock/Alternative spectrum. From 2000 to 2004, the band traveled all across Switzerland and played
over 100 gigs from Rorschach to the Maggia Valley. In 2001 Cruel Noise received the annual culture promotion prize of the city of Wil.
Starting 2002, Stefan Kleger left the band and over the next couple of years several bassplayers came and went, until Adi Ruetimann joined in 2005. The most recent change to the lineup occurred in 2007, when Sonam Tseten Lama became the new singer.
Following the recording of two demo CDs the band released its first original CD, Out Of The Madhouse in 2005. It was produced and recorded by Dede Felix in Wil.
